Dependencies on MS Practices assembly

Congratulations on SimpleInjector -- it looks great.

We are evaluating DI frameworks for our redesigned middleware (enterprise security software). We had been looking at Unity and had been using the Caching in Microsoft Practices, but that framework doesn't support installation on legacy OS's, which we can't yet abandon in our products. But it is not clear if it just isn't officially supported or if there are reasons the Practices framework won't or might not work on XP and 2003.

Anyway, I noticed the Microsoft.Practices.ServiceLocation dll in your Shared folder, and this now makes me very nervous. What does that dll provide that is necessary to add such a possibly viral and undesirable dependency?

The Microsoft.Practices.ServiceLocation.dll is used by the Common Service Locator adapter for Simple Injector. The core library does not depend on the ServiceLocation.dll and neither does any of the other extension and integration packages. Obviously the adapter project itself depends on it.
